These races were held in 1970 and ‘71 before the “main event” Japanese Grand Prix at Fiji Speedway (which interestingly was not a Formula 1 event at that time, though Jackie Stewart won the 1970 race in a Brabham BT30).

Aside from the front runner Fairlady Roadsters and Zs, 2 and 4-door Skyline GT-Rs, and Bluebird SSS Coupes, you can find Isuzu Bellets, Toyota Publicas and 1600 GTs (Sold here as the Corona), Mazda Familia Rotary Coupes, Honda S800s, and according at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! where I stole this from, a lone and very odd Honda 1300 Coupe.

The background shots are equally interesting... I spotted a very cool Hilux w ork t ruck, a Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO, some custom roofless Nissan Sedans, a very pretty Isuzu 117 Coupe, a 1970 M ustang with a shaker hood, and even a FREAKING 2000GT CONVERTIBLE

Are you sure it’s the *golden* era and not the silver or platinum era of Japanese racing?

:-p
